Fairtrade Town Take a step for Fairtrade
Bovey Tracey
BOVEY Tracey continues to support Fairtrade and we were successful in maintaining our Fairtrade Town Accreditation in October 2011 which lasts for another two years! In March we had another successful Fairtrade primary schools' conference in the town hall during Fairtrade Fortnight attended by 60 children representing five local schools. The focus this year was on learning about Fairtrade apricots from the northern mountain region of Pakistan.
Choosing Fairtrade offers
farmers and workers in developing countries a better chance to work their way out of poverty, though fairer wages, safer conditions at work, and a little extra called the Fairtrade premium to invest in projects to improve life for their own communities. If you already support
Fairtrade then many thanks, if not then your step for Fairtrade can be as simple as buying a Fairtrade product, such as tea or coffee. Fairtrade products
are now widely stocked by many retail outlets. Every single step counts because together they lead to life changing projects. Fairtrade fortnight may be over for this year but there are plenty of other ways to continue supporting the millions of farmers and workers in developing countries who still need our continued support.
