Sara scoops top award
Ahuman resources officer has received special recognition for her services at ahealth and social care providers’ national awards. Sara
Edwards, of St Mellons, near Newport, scooped the head office award at Shaw healthcare’s annual Shaw Star Awards, beating off competition from more than 90 of its staff located at its headquarters in Links Business Court.
Sara Edwards Sara was recognised for her
flexibility and willingness to accept responsibility, as well as her particular support for Shaw’steams in the North West and Rhondda Cynon Taf. She has also been responsible for most of Shaw’sTUPE transfers for community services and was singled out for her attention to deal in making such transitions as smooth as possible. Shaw healthcare is one of the
UK’sleading health and social care providers.

ewport-based, sports supplement supplier JBC Nutrition has moved from the city centre to alarger unit in Enterprise Way to
accommodate for the growth of the business.
Established five years ago by
Gareth Clarke, JBC Nutrition’s extensive product range has become popular with both amateur and professional athletes in South Wales. The company also has shop on Wellfield Road in Cardiff. To mark the opening of the new
Newport premises, Gareth and his team invited customers to come along and take part in avariety of different strongman and sports activities. Jamie Redwood, Wales’ Strongest

Man was there to demonstrate the ‘Farmers Walk’ and ‘TractorTyre Flipping’. Various players from the Newport Gwent Dragons and Cardiff Blues took part in arugby skills competition. Gareth has developed good relationships with other local businesses keen to lend their
support to the opening event. Ruffnecks Gym, Bannatynes and Nando’ssupplied prizes and equipment. JBC Nutrition has signed athree-year lease
for the unit in Enterprise Way, in adeal arranged by M4 Property Consultants on behalf of the landlord,The Centre for Business.
Gareth Clarke said: “The
company has grown quicker than expected.We didn’thave enough room in the city centre shop to display our full
range.The new unit provides us with this and customers can park right outside which makes it alot easier for them. In the next six months we will be recruiting more staff, expanding the product range and looking to increase our online sales. It’sa very exciting time and we need the space to accommodate all of these developments.Wewere offered very competitive terms for the unit, and the whole process has been very straight forward.” Dan Smith, director of M4
