Monmouthshire Building Society, one of Wales’ largest and most successful financial institutions, has pledged its support to the Monmouthshire Rowing Club for the eighth consecutive year. Established in 1929, Monmouth
Rowing Club is located close to the centre of Monmouth beside the River Wye.
The club is inclusive of rowers of all
ages and currently has close to 100 active members. It caters for all abilities from elite rowers down to complete beginners, and provides members with an opportunity for both purely social rowing and competitive team rowing. The club is open every day of the week. Monmouth Rowing Club is affiliated
with the Welsh Amateur Rowing Association (WARA) and hosts several annual race events, including the increasingly popular Monmouth
Regatta, which took place this year on May 26 and 27, at which more than 600 rowers participated. The support from the building
society helps fund the general running costs without which the club would not be able to survive, or organise events like the regatta. Peter Scott, chairman of
Monmouth Rowing Club said: “We are deeply grateful to Monmouthshire Building Society for its continued support of the club, and the opportunities it provides for our members as result. Its support of community organisations like ours, is what makes it an important contributor to the cultural vibrancy within the area.” Monmouthshire Building Society is
acommitted supporter of local life within the communities in which it operates.
