Backyard composting made easy


Residents interested in learning about


backyard composting may wish to attend a free workshop from 9 a.m. to noon on Sat., June 9 in downtown Chandler. According to a City statement, “Composting is a natural process that recycles plant and other organic material into a product that can replace fertilizers and reduce the amount of waste material going to a landfill. “The workshop will include hands-on


interactive demonstrations of the tools and techniques used in composting, plus a discussion of various composting methods and the variety of uses for the finished product.” The workshop will be held at the Chandler City Hall’s East Lobby entrance, 175 S. Arizona Ave., Chandler. The workshop is open to Chandler residents receiving City-provided trash and recycling services. Participants must pre-register at

Water slides, games, swimming pools,


swimming lessons and safety tips, misters and dunk tanks are just some of the more than 20 water activities at the Chandler Summer Splash & Dash from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sat., June 23, Dr. A.J. Chandler Park East at Arizona Avenue and Buffalo Street in downtown Chandler. There will also be bounce houses,


water balloon battles, carnival style games, cyber maze water tag and a special area designated just for toddlers and preschool aged children. Admission is free. The Radio Disney Rockin’ Road Show


will provide live entertainment from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with music, interactive games and prizes all centered on family friendly fun.


Elvis highlights Kokopelli dinner Elvis Presley will make an appearance


at Kokopelli Winery & Bistro during its 4th annual “Elvis Show,” at 5 and 7:30 p.m. June 15 and 16. Kokopelli Winery & Bistro is at 35 W. Boston in Chandler.


The meal features Elvis’ fried peanut


butter and banana ice cream sundae, fried chicken and catfish, homemade pot roast and the King’s macaroni and cheese wedge, among other items. It
