Page 14 • The Branchburg News • June 2012 Seniors’ Spring Bake Sale Was A Hit By Grace Gargiulo

To all who visited our recent Senior Citizens Club Bake Sale on the BCMS portico, our sin- cere thanks for your purchas- es…you made it one of the best sales. The event was held the same day as Baseball Opening Day and the PTO Consignment Sale, so we benefited from a lot of walk-by traffic. And another big thank you to Arlene Adler, event chairman, and to co-chairs Joseph Abate, Allan Adler, Jean Dean, Angela Schmitt, Lillian Sheroke, whose combined ef- forts helped to accomplish this. Looking ahead, please note there are no business meetings or social meetings during July and August. But the fun doesn’t stop -- Fun Days will be held every Thursday in July and Au- gust.

Upcoming Trip: On Wednes- day, June 20, after luncheon at the Shrimp Box in Point Pleas- ant at noon, there will be a Riv- er Belle Cruise (1-1½ hours) along the Manasquan River and Barnegat Bay. Then we will go to Delicious Orchards Country Food Market in Colts Neck. For additional info on trips, call 908-236-0333.

Upcoming Meetings: Thurs-

served). Meeting time is 11:30 a.m. Meetings are held in the Community Room at Whiton Hills, Route 202, Building 10, Lower Level.

We invite you to attend one of our meetings as a guest and, hopefully, we can welcome you as a new member. Mem- bership is open to all residents age 55 and over, and spouses may join regardless of age. The Club’s Fun Days are the second and fourth Thursdays (and a fifth Thursday if it oc- curs). Fun Days begin at 10 a.m. and include cards, crafts, pool, movies and other activi- ties.

Sculpture Exhibit to Tie In with Free Mammograms

A Branchburg artist whose sculp- ture is inspired in part by her breast cancer experience is currently the subject of an exhibit by the Rox- bury Arts Group in the Catskills town of Roxbury, NY. The exhibit by Marion Behr is called “Cradle of Life: Image Early,” and it runs through July 7 at the Roxbury Arts Center.

To help raise awareness for her cause, the importance of early can- cer screening, Marion, with the Roxbury Arts Group, helped orga- nize a free cancer screening offered by the Cancer Services Program of Delaware, Otsego and Schoharie Counties.

The screening will be held at Roxbury Arts Group’s Old Bank Building on Main Street in Rox- bury, NY, on Wednesday, June 13,

9 am through 3 pm. The screen- ing is free for those without insur- ance and is also available to those with insurance. Call toll-free 1-888-345-0225 to register for the screening.

Marion Behr was honored last year at the Branchburg Rotary Club’s Best of Branchburg event. Her website is www.marionbehr. com. Telephone number for the Roxbury Arts Group is 607-326- 7908. Website is www.roxbur- yartsgroup.org.
