ounterfeit tobacco is estimated to have cost the UK taxpayer a staggering £40bn since 2000. It is an
uncontrolled and dangerous route to market that takes no consideration of the health or the age of the people it sells to. What’s more, it is stealing business from local retailers like you.
WHERE TO DISPLAY YOUR POSTER In order to maximise visibility of the poster and ensure as many adult smokers as possible see it, we suggest siting the poster in high traffic areas such as: Q Near the tobacco gantry Q In the main window display Q In the door window at the store entrance Q In the off-trade section (if you operate a licensed store)
Of course, not all of your customers are far-sighted enough to be overly concerned about the damage to tax revenues, but they should definitely be concerned about the poor quality of most counterfeit tobacco, and the impact it may have on their health and wellbeing.

That’s why SLR has decided to get involved in the fight against the illicit and counterfeit trade. In this issue you will find a free poster that can inform and educate your customers on the dangers of the illicit and counterfeit trade.
While the financial implications of counterfeiters is of huge importance, we’ve concentrated on the health aspects – to educate your customers in the dangers of smoking illicit products that are manufactured in an unregulated environment.
