FINE ART PREVIEW

Sherree Valentine Daines enjoys a unique position in English contemporary art.

While the majority of successful artists either occupy the artistic high ground or court the media and the masses by keeping their work ultra- accessible, Sherree floats effortlessly between these two worlds. She has won a multitude of coveted awards and exhibited her work at the nation’s most prestigious art venues from The Tate to the Lord’s Museum, yet she is also a familiar face on television, famous for her acclaimed celebrity portraits and live painting performances. Smart art magazines describe her as ‘the face of modern British impressionism’, while the tabloids describe her as ‘the artist to the stars’. Sherree has always has a genuine gift for fusing two extremes into a harmonious whole, both personally and in her art. The relationship between past and present for instance underpins much of her work. She loves the fact that this country has preserved many of its wonderful social traditions into the 21st century, and that while these events continue as a part of our national history and heritage, they are also thoroughly modern events, and showcase the styles and fashions of the day.
