palette that never strays far from the blues, greys and greens of the ocean. The large ensemble cast of figures, boat and gulls creates an impression of ceaseless industry which is surveyed from grandstand seats by an ever-watchful audience of sea birds. All this is seen as a backdrop though,


framed by beautifully dressed windows. On the inside it’s a different story and everything is peaceful as the day ticks calmly by. In the foreground is an array of characters who seem more interested in their own thoughts and conversations than what is going on behind them, and this cheeky slant on the sea view draws us irresistibly into an idyllic world of light and life.
