OUT in Tavi
‘OUT IN TAVI’ is a newly-formed group for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) people in Tavistock and the surrounding area. The group aims to provide a safe place for LGBT people to meet together, support each other and have fun together, and also a focus for raising awareness and sharing information with the wider community. Events and activities are suggested and organised by the people who attend the group.
Many LGBT people, especially in rural areas, are isolated and often encounter prejudice from family, friends, professionals and people at work. We hope to help break this isolation and make a difference in people’s lives, as well as being a place to make friends and build a sense of community.
We are currently running a monthly support group, where LGBT people of all ages and backgrounds can share their experiences and feelings in a confidential, facilitated space. We also have planned social meetings in a pub and a walk followed by lunch. All LGBT people and their ideas are welcome. Come along and see for yourself!
