Pratchett and in April Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury. Our venue is the Glendale Public Library at 5959 W Brown St. in Glendale (SWC 59th Avenue & Brown) on the third Tuesday of every month at 6:30 P.M. The current Schedule calls for Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne on May 15, 2012 and I, Robot by Isaac Asimov on June 19, 2012. Note: The May 15th venue is uncertain. Email books@casfs.org closer to the date for the changed location. Also we are selecting books to be discussed in the second half of the year. Email suggestions to books@casfs.org. CopperCon 31 -- Mark Boniece (As CASFS Board Chair) -- Closed out. The


Convention was financially a wash. No CopperCon 31 turnback to Corporate and no paid pass-thrus to CopperCon 32. CopperCon 32 - (Bob LaPierre, Chairman) At the Hilton Garden in Avondale.


Development continues. Membership sales through PayPal are active. All Committee positions are filled except Masquerade Director. Publicity Email Blasts have begun. We have new guests. Alice Massoglia now has some confirmed program participants.The Harkins Theatre slide will be ready May 4. The CopperCon 32 Committee will meet on May 20th at 4 P.M. at Denneys, 23rd Avenue and Northern in Phoenix. Websites - Donald Jacques. The CASFS website has been updated and


reorganized so important data is available from the main page. Glitches have been fixed and links activated. The pages load faster because of simplifications and reduced file sizes of graphics. History pages streamlined but no information changed or deleted. Web Stats --Visits to the CASFS page have been dropping for the last few months. This could be because ConNotations now is accessed directly. The link used to be via the CASFS web site. --ConNotations visits are rising. April meeting for members wishing to write reviews. Next deadline for everything is Friday May 4, 2012. Elections - CopperCon 33 - We have not yet elected a Chairman for CopperCon


33. Michael Fett was nominated at the April 27th meeting. The election will be held at the May 18th meeting. Audit Committee - No Audit Committee report was provided in April. The membership will receive the Final Report when it is finished.


COPPERCON SHORT STORY CONTEST


CopperCon32 proudly announces their 2nd Annual Short Story Con- test.


If you are interested in submitting a short story for our consideration, please read the following very carefully. If you do not adhere to all the guidelines, your submission WILL not be considered.


1. Word length: 3000 maximum, no minimum 2. Format: electronic only 3. Theme: Dragon(s) as protagonist(s) 4. Must be an original, unpublished story


5. Be sure to proof your finished work for spelling and grammar. If the piece has not been proofed and contains a great number of errors, it will not be considered.


6. Open to both novice and published writers 7. There is no entry fee. 8. Deadline is July 15, 2012. 9. The writer retains all copyrights to the story. 10. You do not have to be present at the convention to win.


11. If you have original artwork (that you own) to accompany the story, we can accept it with the story.


Your story will be reviewed by our panel of distinguished published writers: our Author Guest of Honor, Ari Marmell, our Local Author Guest of Honor, James A. Owen, and local author Janni Lee Simner,


There will be an award plus a free Full Membership to CopperCon32 for The Best Short Story. Winner will be notified approx. two weeks before the convention. The award will be presented during Open- ing Ceremonies TBA. The winning story will be published in the convention program book and in the newszine ConNotations (http:// www.casfs.org/ConNotations) which is both printed and distributed, and online.
