AUGUST City to Surf Run www. city2surf.sunherald.com. au) This 14Km-long fun run takes place on the second Sunday in August and attracts a mighty 40,000 nutcases who run from Hyde Park to Bondi Beach.


SEPTEMBER Rugby League Grand Final (www.nrl.com) The two teams left standing in the National Rugby League (NRL) meet to decide who’s best. OCTOBER Goody Food Month (www.gmf.smh.com. au) Yummy month-long celebration of food and wine.

NOVEMBER Sculpture by the Sea (www.sculpturebythe- sea.com) In mid Novemeber the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk is transformed into an out- door sculpture gallery.


DECEMBER Boxing Day on 26 December boats crowd Sydney Harbour to farewell the yachts competing in the gruelling Syndey to Hobart Yacht Race (www.rolexsyndeyho- bart.com). New Years Eve The Rocks, Kings Cross and Bondi Beach heave with alcohol-fuelled celebrations on 31 December. The Harbour Bridge goes off with a bang. There really couldn’t be a better place to see the new year in than the most beautiful country in the world.
