BABBACOMBE Cliff Railway has transported thousands of passengers up and down the cliffs to Oddicombe Beach since it opened in 1926, and holidaymakers and visitors alike are still using the transport today. A variety and fun-packed events schedule has been organised throughout the
year to make the experience even more memorable. There is now a new visitor centre at Oddicombe Beach which opened at Easter
this year. To celebrate the Diamond Jubilee, passengers can use the cliff railway for 60p per person per trip on June 2. There will be a day of live music on Oddicombe Beach on June 17 and on September 9, the Cliff Railway is taking part in the 2012 Agatha Christie Festival by hosting a Murder Mystery Family Fun Day with clues to find, plots to foil and a great 1920s atmosphere. Nicky Allen, marketing officer for the cliff railway, said: ‘While a trip on Babbacombe Cliff Railway and a visit to Oddicombe Beach is a must-do for many holidaymakers and locals, for 2012 we wanted to provide a few extra highlights throughout the year which is why we came up with this events programme.’
Babbacombe Cliff Railway is open from 9.30am to 5pm although times do vary throughout the season. More information on all these events can be found at
