Goffstown, Salem defeated Windham, 3-0, at home on Wednesday, May 2. The Blue Devils won the fi rst and second games against Windham by the score of 25-17, and the third game, 25-14. Statistical leaders for the Devils included Brandon Ackroyd (six kills), Jon Buatti (six kills), Joe Dube (six kills), Andrew Ruffen (24 assists, six aces), and
Jon Klecan (nine digs). On Monday, April 30, Salem swept Coe-Brown, 3-0, at home. Scores of the games were 25-17 in the fi rst, 25-19 in the second, and 25-8 in the third. Statistical leaders for Salem included Peter Coufos (11 kills, three aces), Charles Peters (fi ve blocks), Ruffen (fi ve assists), and Darren Righini (four digs). During April break, Salem defeated Souhegan, 3-0, at home on Monday, April 23. The Devils won the three games by scores of 25-21 in the fi rst, 25-12 in the second, and 25-18 in third. Salem leaders included Steve Nugent (fi ve assists), Sean Towler (10 assists), Eric Denning (seven aces), and Klecan (15 digs).
Before facing Souhegan, the Devils took a 3-0 victory at Keene on Friday, April 20. Salem won by scores of 25-9 in the fi rst game, 25- 17 in the second game, and 25-20 in the third game. Salem’s top performers in the contest were Denning (10 kills, four blocks, four aces), Nugent (seven kills, four aces), and Towler (25 assists). After hosting Londonderry on Tuesday, May 8 and visiting Timberlane on Thursday, May 10, the Blue Devils will see their next action on Monday, May 14 at John Stark Regional. The Devils are scheduled to have their next home game against Mascenic on Tuesday, May 22 at 6 p.m.

Salem’s Megan Zuliani takes a shot on goal against the Timberlane defense
by Chris White After consecutive losses to Londonderry and Concord the previous week, the Salem High girls’ lacrosse team returned to the winning track with two convincing victories at home last week. Salem took wins over Division I opponent Manchester Central and Division II Timberlane in a cross-divisional match-up. The Blue Devils defeated Manchester Central by the score of 16-6 on Thursday, May 3. Salem built a 9-3 advantage by halftime and then outscored Central 7-3 in the second half to take the victory. Jersey Burns led Salem with six goals, while Megan Zuliani, Alexa Smith, and Tayllar Righini shared the team lead in assists with two each. Other goal scorers for Salem included Alexa Smith (three), Righini (three), Zuliani, Erika Smith, Kerri Dodier, and Janelle Borges. Also providing assists for Salem were Burns, Erika Smith, Dodier, and Michayla Shay. Goalie Kara Thomas also registered 15 saves for the Blue Devils. A day later, the Blue Devils trounced
Timberlane by the score of 16-5 on Friday, May 4. The Devils came out strong in the fi rst half, taking a 12-1 lead in to halftime. Salem’s fi rst half effort included scoring three goals in the last minute before the intermission. The teams then played to a 4-4 tie in the second half as Salem ran away with the victory.
Righini and Burns led the Blue Devils with four goals apiece, while Burns and Alexa Smith led the team with two assists each. Also scoring goals for the Devils were Zuliani (three), Shari Juranovits (two), Alexa Smith (two), Alexandra Breen, Chantalle Dumont, and Janelle Borges. Other assist providers included Juranovits, Dodier, and Danielle Smith. Thomas also had fi ve saves

in goal for Salem and Katelynn Brooks registered two saves. With the two wins, Salem evened its overall record at 5-5 on the season. The Blue Devils also improved their record to 4-4 against Division I opponents. After a busy week of playing three games in four days against Exeter, Nashua South, and Hollis-Brookline, the Devils are scheduled to see their next action at home on Tuesday, May 15 versus Exeter at 4 p.m.
