Vincent B. ‘Pup’ Swanson
Vincent “Pup” Swanson of Salem, 89, passed peacefully surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was born in Ljungby, Sweden to the late Oscar and Ruth Swanson. He grew up and was educated in Somerville, MA, where he graduated from Somerville High School. He was a resident of Salem for the past 32 years, formerly of Danvers, MA. Mr. Swanson was a salesman for Lewis Boyle in Waltham, MA. He was a Navy
veteran, serving during World War II. Vince was a Past Master and Member of the Amity Masonic Lodge in Danvers, MA. He was an active member of the Salem Athletic Club, the Greater Salem Caregivers, and the Triumphant Cross Lutheran Church in Salem. He enjoyed performing with the Salem Senior Singers, model boat building, and boating on the lake. Most of all, Vince was a devoted family man. He was the beloved husband of the late Beatrice (Keyes) Swanson, and in recent years, loving companion to Lorraine Whitley of Salem;
devoted father to Vincent Swanson Jr. and his wife Lulan of Vista, CA, Robert Swanson and fiancée Karen Jonaitis of Chester, Ronald Swanson and partner Lauren Liss of Gloucester, MA, the late Dianne (Swanson) Jordan, Barry Swanson of Salem, and Dawn (Swanson) Moretti and Richard Moretti of Salem. He is also survived by grandchildren, Daniel Swanson, Tammy (Swanson) Cornett, Tina Swanson, Jessica (Swanson) Maczuba, Adam Swanson, Erik, Ryan, and Brett Swanson, Derek Jordan, Dylan, and Dustin Swanson, Cameron, and Erika Moretti; nine great-grandchildren; as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and valued friends including Nancy and Elaine Swanson. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 11, at 11 a.m. at

Patricia ‘Pat’ (Gibbons) Torla Patricia ‘Pat’ (Gibbons)
Torla, 86, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2012, at the Wingate at Haverhill, after a short period of declining health. Patricia was born in
Lawrence, MA, to Andrew and Winifred (Gauthier)
Gibbons on July 1, 1925. A lifelong resident of Merrimack Valley, she was a Graduate of Lawrence High School and McIntosh School of Business. She was later employed at Western Electric in Andover, MA, as Human Resources Administrator. Patricia was a communicant at Our Lady of Good Council Parish and formerly at Holy Trinity Church in Lawrence. She loved spending quality time with her grandchildren, Alan Dewhirst, Jr. and Paige Dewhirst; great-grandson, Steven Patrick Dewhirst; as well as her nieces and nephews. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, playing games, doing crossword puzzles, traveling, and shopping at yard sales. She leaves her loving husband of 51 years, Frank Torla of Methuen, MA; and is survived by

her children, Joanne Simone and her husband Michael of Hampton, and David Torla and his wife Paula of New Durham; grandchildren, Alan Dewhirst, Jr. and Paige Dewhirst; great-grandson, Steven Patrick Dewhirst; and her sister, Sheila Gurka, of Methuen. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased
by her daughter, Mary Torla; brothers, Andrew and Edward Gibbons; and sister, Eileen (Gibbons) Langevin.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated
