As I considered how I can honor the fathers in my life, I realized that they would be honored by the ministry of Good Samaritan Society – Red Oak and Villisca. The Hallmark Values that always have and always will be central to our ministry call us to focus on Christ, residents, staff and commu- nity. What we do is rooted in the foundation of God’s never ending love. And, because of Christ’s love, everyone — staff member, resident or community member — is someone. The fathers in my life would be honored by that. How about yours? There is so much hope here.

T he Christian Care Endowment Campaign
The details: In 2010, Good Samaritan Society – Red Oak and Villisca established two Christian Care Endowment Funds to enable the centers to hire a chaplain. A chaplain will lead the spiritual life at the centers by making personal visits with residents, family members and staff members.
Fundraising update: As of May 1, the centers have raised more than $50,000 toward the Phase I goal of $100,000, and are well on their way toward the $1 million overall campaign goal. Jim Petersen was hired as a part-time chaplain two days per week.
