3 SILKY-SKILLS SAM GETS FOOTIE BOOST
Exeter estate agent Winkworth is sponsoring a talented young footballer from Crediton who has recently signed to Southampton FC. Sam Gallagher, aged 16, who is currently studying for his GCSEs at
Queen Elizabeth’s in Crediton, will join The Saints full time in July. The football club has just been promoted to the Premier League. Simon Scott-Nelson, director of Winkworth, pictured above presenting Sam with his new football boots, said: “This is a great opportunity to be part of Sam’s success story right at the start of what will hopefully be a long and illustrious football career. “We will all be watching with interest and wish him all the best.” Sam said: “I’d like to thank Simon and Chris at Winkworth for their
support – and a great pair of boots! “I’m really excited to be joining Southampton’s well-known academy and am looking forward to starting my football career there.” For more

ARTWORK WAS INSPIRATIONAL
When Helen Brayley saw artist Anna Howarth’s intricate papercut Little Gidding in Exeter Living magazine (pictured right), it inspired her to set up a new business. The Devon-based early-years
music specialist has launched Whispering Wood, an innovative musical storytelling workshop for primary school children. It combines songs, movement, music and story- making to delight the senses, stimulate the imagination and connect mind to body and to the natural world. Helen said: “I’ve spent
many years as a musician, educationist and mother being amazed by the power that music, words and play have on growing minds. “This combination of interactive skills provides a link to
4
the undervalued and underused resource of the natural world. “With Whispering Wood,
I want children to be captivated by the magic of woodlands through singing, playing and imagining. Engaging children through their senses, stimulates countless neurological responses and provides an optimum learning experience.” Helen eventually bought
the artwork that inspired her business, and it hangs in her hall providing daily inspiration. For more
