PACKAGING INNOVATIONS REVIEW A Lazy Susan
for £1600? UPM Conveyors have developed a new version of their Rotary Table (otherwise known as a Lazy Susan) to operate as an integrated part of a product handling system or to act as a stand alone unit to act as a buffer when required for accumulating and unloading product. It can also be used to ensure total evacuation and as standard it incorporates variable speed control. All of this can be bought for £1600.00, which UPM claims to be the most competitive price in the market. An optional extra on the Lazy Susan is an overhead mounted multi adjustable product flow orientation guide to ensure “first in first out of product”. Also, UPM say they guarantee the elimination of any operator trap points, as the underside of the table is totally enclosed and conforms to all Health and Safety at Work Acts. UPM launched the Lazy Susan at the EasyFairs show, which resulted in several orders. For more information call 01753 548801, email

STO votes show best ever
The Stölzle Glass Group has voted the 2012 edition of Packaging Innovations the best ever. Both Gary Steen, sales director for prestige spirits, and Mark Devonald Smith, sales director for perfumery and personal care, said that this year there were more visitors from abroad and from big, international companies. STO had a gratifying number of potential new clients visiting the C21 stand. The Group has had a presence at the show from early on and has seen it develop from year to year. The STO stand featured a range of custom designed and standard glass containers for perfumery and personal care and prestige spirits. A stand-out perfumery bottle was the 50ml black Up (pictured), produced for the eponymous French cosmetic company. Sharply rectangular, it features a scoop out of the front face giving the illusion of a bottle floating within a bottle. The scoop effect is repeated on the metallised gold cap.
