CONTRACTS & PROJECTS Providing a clear path
RPC Containers Oakham’s expertise in combining pack manufacture and effective decoration has been recognised by the makers of KelKay De-Icing Salt. A 7.5 litre pail from RPC Oakham is being used to market the clean, white, pure salt designed for the rapid clearance of snow and ice from paths and driveways to help prevent slipping during wintry conditions. The product also prevents unsightly brown marks being trodden into entranceways and carpets, which can result from other brown rock salts or sand-based products. The 7.5kg pail with a resealable lid is ideal for keeping in a car boot and comes with a handy plastic scoop for easy distribution. It is decorated with a striking two-colour print and RPC Oakham’s ability to deliver a pail with effective decoration provides the added benefit of giving KelKay a strong, visible retail presence. Deborah Dugher of KelKay says: “RPC were able to supply competitively priced, high quality pails, with good print decoration. Because this is a seasonal product, we needed to be able to work closely with a supplier who could enable us to respond to sudden uplifts in demand.” RPC Containers Oakham is one of the UK’s leading manufacturer of injection moulded open-top polypropylene containers. Anson Packaging’s solution
Anglia Business Solutions has announced the successful completion of a project to deploy Microsoft Dynamics NAV for Anson Packaging Ltd, packaging supplier to the food industry. The project involved the deployment of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 across Anson’s sites in Haddenham and Sutton in Cambridgeshire. The fully integrated centralised solution includes financial management, manufacturing, CRM, inventory & warehouse management, service management, business analytics and an employee portal. It also includes the use of the new Role Tailored User Experience from Microsoft Dynamics. The Microsoft Dynamics Role Centre provides users with an individualised workspace tailored to their job. This improves productivity by providing specific information relative to the end user role. Commenting on the project, Phil Noyes, IT Manager at Anson Packaging said: “We had three different legacy solutions in use which we had outgrown. We needed to replace these with a single centralised solution across all of our business units. In particular, we were looking for end to end traceability and visibility. The new solution has provided us with much improved efficiencies in our planning and operating processes.” For more information call 01223 873400, email

Wrapping a dazzling smile
National Flexible have helped to brighten smiles with the supply of a printed flexible packaging film used in the production of sachets for the famous Beverley Hills Toothpaste brand. The unusual application saw National Flexible’s technical team working closely with a well- known sachet machinery supplier to specify, test and produce a bespoke laminate film suitable for use on a multi-lane sachet packing machine, which was used to pack the sachets of the Beverley Hills Toothpaste. The film needed to have excellent seal integrity, especially under pressure, as it was important that the sachets were able to deliver a measured dose of the toothpaste without any bursts or seal failures. “We had to run extensive trials on the packing machine prior to commissioning,” said National Flexible’s marketing manager Andy Smith. “Not only did the film have to have the very best sealing properties, we were also challenged with making sure that our print team could match as closely as possible to the existing litho-printed cartons which are already well-recognised.” For more information call 01274 685566, email
