LAUNCH GALLERY GOING ALL BRITISH
FOR THE JUBILEE With the Jubilee celebrations and the Olympics, 2012 is going to be a patriotic year for the UK and to celebrate, Fruit Passion is launching what they believe to be the first ever truly British juice range. The initial range, which champions British produce, features three products: Apple and Raspberry, Apple and Blackcurrant and Apple and Blackberry. They are made from home-grown fruits and blended in Somerset. According to the company, taste testers have remarked that the range recreates the flavours of a homemade apple and blackberry crumble or a raspberry sorbet. The juices are available from Tesco and Sainsbury’s at RSP £2.49 from March. They are expected to roll out to other supermarkets at a later date.
ANEWHIGH-FIBREBARFROMKELLOGG’S Kellogg’s Special K has introduced its first high fibre bar into the cereal snacks category. As well as being chocolatey, new Special K Chewy Delight has been designed to promote healthy tummies and will, says Kellogg’s, help retailers take advantage of the increasing popularity of high fibre snacks, especially amongst young women. At 99 calories per bar and with 16 per cent of the recommended daily fibre allowance, Kellogg’s predicts Chewy Delight will be a hit with slimmers and estimates it will bring in more than £3.3 million in sales this year alone. It is available in two flavours, milk chocolate and dark chocolate, and takes the number of snacks in the Special K range to 12. Chewy Delight is available now in all major supermarkets priced at £1.99 for four bars. Special K is Kellogg’s biggest brand worth over £100m.
SPARKLING SALES FORWALKERS Walkers is claiming to be bringing excitement and innovation to the snacks aisle, with the launch of new Baked Stars, a tasty treat available in three flavours. With 70 per cent less fat than standard crisps, the launch is set to grow the CSN category, says owners PepsiCo, by fulfilling mums desire for ‘better for you’ family snacks in fun formats that taste great. The Baked range from Walkers is the top selling ‘better for you’ SKU worth £34m, according to Nielsen, with repeat purchase rates demonstrating that lower fat can still mean ‘tasty’ for the consumer and their child. The Baked Stars are available now in leading retailers in three flavours, Cheese & Onion, Salt & Vinegar and Mild Sweet Chilli, in multipacks of six, with an RRP £1.59. The launch is being supported by TV advertising, as well as PR, in-store support and sampling.
