Installation An Idyllic

With the help of Lutron’s easy to use control system, lighting designer Mark Kavanagh has been able to bring the beauty of outdoor light into a beautiful home in the Cotswolds.

Located in the picturesque scenery of the Cotswolds, a stunning 2500 square foot home based on the prestigious ‘Lakes By Yoo’ development has been designed to fit in seamlessly with its natural environment. Largely made using glass and wood, the

property has been brought to life using Lutron’s light control technology thanks to the delicate touch of lighting designer, Mark Kavanagh and his ability to use Lutron’s light controls to help bring the outdoors inside the property. Mark Kavanagh, lighting designer at Future Light Design Ltd, explains: “Having previously integrated Lutron HomeWorks light control technology into her first home, my client knew just what Lutron light controls were made of. The ease of functionality, reliability and their suitability for use in modern homes, as well as the fantastic results they could achieve were the ideal solution to recreate

the same effortless control and effect in her second home but on a smaller budget. Comprising of three floors, the building opened up numerous possibilities for Mark to integrate light controls to allow maximum use of the daylight and scenic views whilst also maintaining that ease of control the client was used to from the HomeWorks system in her main property. However, as one of the 167 cabins specified to order on the

development in the Cotswolds, there was a very strict criteria on exterior lighting, so all attentions

focused on the interior. “By using Lutron’s GRAFIK Eye QS and Sivoia QS systems, it was possible for the zones of light in every area to be controlled individually, which was perfect for a space that’s surrounded by light by day and needs to be thoughtfully lit by night,” explains Kavanagh. “By including

motorised shades, which were pre-wired for blackout shades, the client is able to maximise the use of the daylight with ease and provide extra privacy when desired.” A beautiful rural retreat, this home has been wonderfully brought to life with the help of Lutron’s simple to use control systems. The installation of Lutron light controls has also provided the owner with energy saving potential. The GRAFIK Eye QS has an easy-to-read information display designed to show light levels in each zone and energy consumption levels for easy monitoring. This enables the owner to see timeclock information and real-time energy savings achieved across the lighting system as the lamps are dimmed.
