Roland fiddles with Symphony at CCA “The Traveler’s Footprints,” a composition by Peter Roland is played by the award- winning fiddler with assistance from the Chandler Symphony Orchestra at 3 p.m. Sun., May 6 at Chandler Center for the Arts, 250 N. Arizona Ave. in downtown Chandler. Led by Music Director Jack Herriman and Associate Conductor Alex Zheng, “Symphonie Fantastique” by Hector Berlioz is also on the program. 100 artists featured in Centennial Art Walk The works of 100 artists will be


displayed in booths lining the downtown square on the west side of Arizona Avenue to celebrate Chandler’s Centennial from 4 to 10 p.m. Fri., May 18. The Downtown Chandler Community


Partnership (DCCP), with the support of the City of Chandler, is hosting 100 Artists Celebrating 100 Years, in conjunction with the monthly third Friday art walks. This free festival of art, music and dance features works of


at least 100 local painters, sculptors, jewelers, photographers and other artists. Visitors can also pick up a free copy of


a limited edition cookbook, “Southside History Cookbook,” on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 8 p.m. Former Mayor Coy Payne will also be on hand to sign copies of the cookbook. For more information, visit www.downtownchandler.org.


Two chorale events at SL church SanTan Sun music lovers have two


opportunities to hear chorale music at Sun Lakes United Methodist Church in May, beginning with Franz Joseph Haydn’s lengthy oratorio “The Seasons,” performed by the San Tan Community Performing Arts’ Chorale and Orchestra from 6:30 to 9 p.m., Sat., May 5; and 3 to 5:30 p.m., Sun., May 6. There are two camps offered each session: a Musical Theatre Camp for ages 9 to 15, taking place 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, and a FunTales Camp for ages 4


to 8 offered three days a week from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Fee for the Musical Theatre Camp, which concludes with an evening performance


for the families, is $295 for one session or $500 for both. Fee for the FunTales Camp is $195 for one session or $300 for both. A 20% discount is offered on fees for siblings. Copperstar Repertory Co. camps are taught by certified educators with years of experience. Music Director Sam Henderson, Choreographer Laura Christian and Director Mary-Jo Okawa have been a successful team at Copperstar for the past two years. This will be their third year teaching Copperstar summer camps together. They also team up for Copperstar’s main stage season at the HCPA, which begins in August.
