Music notes – Basha’s fourth-graders will perform at the Chandler Centennial Celebration at 5 p.m. Thu., May 17 at the new City Hall Complex in downtown Chandler. The performance will feature many of the songs they performed at Basha’s Arizona Centennial Celebration in February. Save the dates – Mon., May 28 is Memorial Day and a day off from school. The last day of classes is Wed., May 30. Heat wave – With the weather

Box Tops – Thanks to everyone who turned in box tops this year. So far, more than $3,800 has been raised for Hancock through the box tops program. Kindie class – Hancock offers an


accelerated class for kindergartners ready for a challenge during the 2012-13 school year. Parents may come in and register their child for next year, with the child’s birth certificate, immunization records and proof of address. Incoming kindergarten students are invited to a story time at 9 a.m. or 12:30 p.m. Fri., May 11 in the Media Center, where Mrs. Hull will read a story to students.

Class notes – Each sixth-grader is finishing out the year by choosing a country and writing a report on it, researching government, education, economy, culture, geography, history, religion, sports, popular foods, traditional dress and more. Students will make maps, graphs and timelines and present their findings at a World Fair May 18 to visiting classrooms and parents. Famous footnotes – Fourth-graders
