hope to people looking for help and willing to participate in pharmaceutical research. “We always accept new patients for studies,” DiLembo reports. “We are currently enrolling trials for pediatric vaccines, adult vaccines, people struggling with their weight, stress incontinence, back pain, endometriosis, migraine headaches, Type 2 diabetes trials for patients who have not used insulin yet and patients with high cholesterol.” In addition to helping develop
medications that could aid millions of fellow-sufferers, many study participants also receive highly specialized medical care and are paid for their time.
“Some of the benefits of participating in a clinical research trial may be: higher knowledge regarding current disorders, contribution to science and quality drugs on the market, free study medications, lab work, EKG’s and all patient’s are generally compensated for their time and travel,” explains DiLembo. “Even if we don’t have a trial that fits their needs currently, we may have one in the near future. When we know what our patients need, it makes it easier for us to accept the next study knowing we have the right patient population.” Radiant Research is at 2081 W. Frye Rd.

A new textile recycling bin at Chandler’s Snedigar Recreation Center and Sportsplex accepts household clothing and fabrics items that might otherwise head for the trash heap. Instead, donated textiles will be woven into new products.
The City of Chandler and Phoenix Fibers have agreed to set up and maintain the textile-recycling bin the Snedigar facilities at 4500 S. Basha Rd. across from the skate park. The bin accepts new or used clothing, sheets, linens, towels and shoes. Cities usually limit recycling programs
to paper, cardboard, glass and aluminum, but textile recycling represents a major step in environmental protection, Phoenix Fibers officials say. Textiles account for about 12 million
tons, or about 5%, of the nation’s annual landfill production, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. But 90% of all textiles could be recycled and made into new products, according to Phoenix Fibers. Donations will be sorted by material
type, cotton content, material size and so on.

Textiles join list of recyclables in Chandler
In fact, Phoenix Fibers will convert much of this material for its affiliate, Bonded Logic, for use in their cutting edge insulation product for new construction known as UltraTouch Denim Insulation. Bonded Logic, along with United Fibers, are Chandler affiliates of Phoenix Fibers and have been recycling industry leaders for more than 30 years. “We’re very proud to be partnering with the City of Chandler on textile recycling,” says Matt Graham, general manager of Phoenix Fibers. “Placing our recycling bin at Snedigar Sportsplex is an important first step in this new program, which we look forward to expanding throughout the community.” The Snedigar bin is the first of what
could be more bins. More than 15 other locations throughout Chandler are being considered.
Phoenix Fibers also integrates recycling and fundraising in partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs of the East Valley, Sunshine Acres Children’s Home in Mesa, House of Refuge in Mesa and more than 75 schools and churches. For more information or to start a
fundraiser for your organization, contact Phoenix Fibers at 480-963-3277.
