Centennial events schedule


The City of Chandler’s centennial


festivities begin with the “Happy 100th Birthday Chandler! Celebration” from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thu., May 17 at City Hall.


The following evening from 4 to 10 p.m. Fri., May 18, the monthly Chandler Art Walk features “100 Artists Celebrating 100 Years” in historic downtown Chandler. The weekend concludes with the “Chandler Bash of the Century” from 4 to 10 p.m. Sat., May 19 at Tumbleweed Park, 2250 S. McQueen Rd.


One of Chandler’s best-known events, the Chihuahua dog races, will be back again Sat., May 5 during the annual Cinco de Mayo Festival. Fiddler Peter Rolland performs

Before and during the event, teams raise money that is donated to the American Cancer Society to sponsor research and support services. Relay for Life is an overnight relay-style event, with the goal of each team to have at least one member circling the
