Dear Erick, I really want to get back to my natural hair color. I’ve been foiling for about eight years now. Is it possible?
Dear Kim, I always say that hair color is one of the easiest salon services
to correct when it goes wrong! So yes, it’s possible, but it does take time. Do you think this just a phase, or do you want your natural hair color back for the next few years? I’m asking because if we darken hair that has been previously lightened, it can be dangerous to re-lighten again. And by dangerous, I mean there is a possibilty that you won’t have any hair left on your head when the process is complete! The future integrity of your hair is the most important. Assuming that yes, you do want to remain a brunette for
an extended period of time, the next step is determining your natural hair color. Technically, this is your target shade – note that it will never be exact. We start out by filling your hair with the Under Lying Contributing Pigment (ULCP) that corresponds with your natural color. This is what some people expose when they do color in the kitchen and their hair turns orange. We find the ULCP that matches your natural hair color, then fill the bleached- out ends using a deposit only Demi-color. After that is processed and removed, we apply the desired shade using a Demi-color, if possible.
It get lasting results, the process might have to be repeated
in about two weeks. Invest in a good shampoo/conditioner that is recommended by your stylist. A word of warning: if for some crazy reason you decide to go back to blonde, you MUST tell your stylist that you have bleached hair under that beautiful brown. Like I mentioned before, any chemical service done after a tint- back can completely fry your previously bleached hair. Hope this helps! I look forward to seeing you in the salon
