The Lama Hana Trust purchased the Historic Shangri-La

Inn in Bonita Springs in 1998. Since then, Addison Fisher and Heather Burch, trustees, have protected and taken care of the ex- isting structures and grounds with the spirit of returning it to an authentic sanctuary it once was. “The first time I went to Shangri- La, I knew that I had stepped on sacred ground,” says Burch, “It is now our responsibility to maintain that sacred ground.” The Lama Hana Trust is on track to reopen the property as a full-ser- vice healing retreat Center. Certified Organic in 2005, Shangri-La Springs will lead the

way in providing a cutting edge, green healing Center and be a model for those searching to enrich their lives. Guests will en- joy the historic Inn, Villa Asconia and Villa Bonita for overnight stays in the future. The Inn will offer an organic menu which will serve fruits and vegetables from Shangri-La Springs own garden and orchard. The Spa will re-open with the principles of ancient holistic

written by: Kimberly Becker riginally built in the 1920’s, the Historic Shangri-La

Inn in Bonita Springs, nestled amidst the sub-tropical beauty of Southwest Florida, is an oasis from the day to day work world and tribulations of life. The property has a long history of mystery and legend. Known for the curative properties of the natural spring which restores personal balance, it was a getaway for the rich and famous. Shangri-La played host to celebrities including Elizabeth Taylor and Buddy Hackett. So what lies behind the gates on Old 41 Road? Two mas-

sive Mysore fig trees shade much of the winding pathways that lead to a botanical canopy of slash pines and mossy oaks. Eclec- tic statues and antique wooden furniture on the grounds reflect historic roots. Shangri-La Springs is aesthetically pleasing from the frosting–white architecture and tile roofs to the auspicious octagon-shaped building where you may find a labyrinth flooded with light from the arched windows.

for those interested in experiencing and learning about alterna- tive energy, green building and the latest on environmental sup- port for whole and healthy living. The team at Shangri-La Springs understands that there are those searching for a conscious living lifestyle and will be posting workshops, retreats and lectures on the website in the months to come. Currently, Shangri-La Springs is offering a selection of indoor

and outdoor meeting and event venues that appeal to the senses. When guests enter the gates, the stage is set; lush gardens are perfect for those special moments that take one’s breath away. This tropical paradise and flowing springs provides abundant opportunities for unique and customized events, weddings and memorable gatherings. With the warm Gulf of Mexico beaches just minutes away it makes a perfect destination oasis. After so many years of being a closed book, all this recent

activity marks an exciting new chapter for Shangri-La Springs. Pulse Magazine SWFL was honored to be granted access to the grounds during the re-birth and we hope you enjoy the beautiful images captured during this very special photo shoot!
