Broncos Baseball Give Up Two Loses, Add a Win
traveled to Holman Stadium on Friday, April 27, to take on Bishop Guertin, but instead were handed a 6-2 loss at the hands of the Cardinals. Mike Syrvidas took the loss in this contest going just one inning giving up four runs on three hits to spot the Cardinals to a 4-0 lead in the first inning. Tyler Brown came in and gave up two runs in the second inning on two hits but settled down nicely and shut down the Cardinals for the remainder of the game. Despite out-
hitting Bishop Guertin 7-6, the Broncos could not capitalize on their hits scoring only two runs in the contest. Dakota Williams had two hits for Alvirne and Mike Sirvydas, Corey Landry, Robbie Flohr, Luis Matrille and Dan Teague each had one safety. Tyler Brown scored a run and had an RBI while Dan Teague also had an RBI. On Monday, April 30, the Broncos finally put another game in the win column when they defeated Exeter 5-1 at home. Robbie Flohr picked up the victory for Alvirne going six innings and giving up one run on five hits while striking out five batters. Derek Hudson mopped up in the seventh inning giving up no runs and no hits and had one strike out to seal the victory for the Broncos. Alvirne took advantage of nine hits on the afternoon with Corey Landry leading the hit parade with two hits, one run scored and one RBI on the afternoon. Mike Sirvydas had one hit and one RBI, Mike Frassica added a run and a hit, Dakota Williams had one hit and one RBI and Tyler Brown had a hit and an RBI. Robbie Flohr chipped in with a run scored and one hit, Greg Emanuelson had a run a hit and an RBI, and Luis Matrille added a run and a hit for Alvirne. The Broncos are now 3-7 on the season and will host Trinity on May 4 and Merrimack on May 9, as they fight for a playoff spot in the NHIAA Division 1 tournament.

by Sue LaRoche The Alvirne boys squad took two of their last three matches, bringing their overall season tally to 4-5. The Broncos handed Nashua North a 5-4 loss with PJ Martineau, KV Venuthurupalli, Sid Moparthi and Tyler Lambert all winning in singles and the consistent third doubles team of Venuthurupalli and Moparthi picked up an 8-0 victory sealing the win for Alvirne. The Broncos took that momentum and went to Bishop Guertin on Friday, April 27, and handed them a 5-4 defeat. Travis Terrio, Venuthurupalli (in a tie breaker), Moparthi (in a tie breaker) and Lambert all won in singles and again Venuthurupalli and Moparthi won in the third doubles spot to pull out the victory. The Broncos hosted Exeter on Monday, April 30, and were blanked in the singles, giving Exeter a 7-2 victory. Matt O’Brien and Travis Terrio won at number one doubles while KV Venuthurupalli and Alec Boucher won at number two doubles. Sid Moparthi and Jimmy Tomaswick were unable to pull out the victory in third doubles for the doubles sweep.
Alvirne will have their final home match of the season on Wednesday, May 9, when they take on Merrimack.

the Lady Broncos chalked up their first notch in the victory column when they defeated Nashua North 7-2 on the road. In singles Lahari Venuthurupalli, Yashaswani Moparthi, Lauren Weber and Dominique Kaempf all won their matches in the number 1, 2, 3 and 6 spots. The Broncos managed to sweep the doubles with Venuthurupalli and Moparthi winning at number 1 doubles, Weber and Kaempf winning at number 2 doubles and Devon LaBonte and Hanna Bate
winning at number 3 doubles. Heather Gibson played a tough match but wound up on the losing end 8-4 at number 5 singles, and Devon LaBonte dropped her number 4 singles match 9-8 in a tiebreaker.
Unfortunately, the Broncos ran into powerhouse teams Bishop Guertin and Exeter and were unable to notch another victory losing to both schools 9-0. The Lady Broncos sport a 1-8 record and will be at home on May 7 against Timberlane, May 11 against Salem and May 18 against Manchester Central.
Gymnasts Compete at Region 6 Men’s Regionals
submitted by Kim Marchand NEGTC boys competitive gymnastics team competed in the 2012 Men’s Region 6 Gymnastics Championships held at the Braintree (MA) high School on April 14 and 15. This intense competition consists of 400 gymnasts from approximately 60 gyms from across New England.
NEGTC boys have worked hard to qualify for this event. The boys from Hudson who attended this event scored as follows. Level 6: Cole Marchand placed fourth with
an All Around score of 90.0. He received 15.7 on floor (first place), 15.00 (11th place) pommel horse, 14.4 (19th place) rings, 15.3 (third place) vault, 14.7 (20th place) Parallel Bar, and 14.9 (10th place) on high bar. Level 7: Ian Christiansen placed 12th with
an All Around score of 78.8. He received a 13.6 (12th place) on floor, 12.0 (ninth place) on pommel, 13.5 (13th place) on rings, 14.6 (fifth place) on vault, 12.1 (13th place) on parallel bars, and 13.00 (11th place) on high bar. Colton Rice placed 11th with an All Around score of 69.3. He received 10.8 (12th place) on Floor, 12.7 (sixth place) on pommel horse, 11.4 9 (10th place) rings, 14.0 (11th place) parallel bars, 10.2 (12th place) on the vault, 10.2 (10th place) on high bar.
