MAC swim instructor Rachel Marks helps some young swimmers stay afloat in the West Pool. MAC offers swim lessons for children starting as young as six months. Just about everything that aquatics has to offers is on display during the May 4 Family Fridays event, a collaboration between the aquatics, junior sports and outdoor departments.

ay is National Water Safety Month. In honor of this, the aquatics, outdoor and junior sports departments are joining forces for a water safety themed Family Fridays on May 4. A variety of fun activities high- light MAC’s many aquatics programs to get members ready for a splashing good summer and emphasize how to stay safe while in and around water. The event takes place from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, May 4 in the Main Gym and West Pool. Here are some highlights. • Bring swimsuits! The West pool has open swim for families, who have the opportunity to observe and practice water rescues, scuba, water polo, synchronized swimming, falling in the pool with clothes on and more. (Bring an extra pair of clothes to try and swim in.)
• Scavenger hunt for safety, with prizes for finding all of the water safety clues in both the West Pool area and the gyms.
• Water themed bouncy houses • Water themed coloring books • Water safety videos • Family photos on the whitewater raft in the green gym WM
