Announcing plans for the Qatar-based property at this yearÕs Arabian Travel Market, Hamad Abdulla Al Mulla, CEO, Katara Hospitality, said: ÒThis stunning structure matches our aspiration for Katara Hospitality to become one of the worldÕs most recognised hospitality brand identities. The Ôcrossed swordÕ faade of the Lusail Marina Towers, which are actually intertwined arched towers, replicates the Qatar seal and, integrated with landscaped gardens, rises
from a podium giving the impression that the entire complex is floating on the sea. Al Mulla added: ÒThe
modern aesthetic of the Lusail Marina Iconic Development complements the more traditional properties we have in our eclectic portfolio of classic architecture.Ó Aiming to be operational by 2016, the Lusail Marina Iconic Development will be constructed in the Marina district of Lusail, the latest of the urban centres to be planned in the Gulf State. Lusail is set to be located on the Gulf coast 15 kilometres north of Doha city centre and will eventually provide accommodation for up to 250,000 people. ÒNaturally, the Lusail Marina Towers will be ideally located for travelling football fans, officials and professionals as the Qatar Football World Cup arrives in a decadeÕs time,Ó said Al Mulla.
ÒAnd long after the World Cup, the property will be a perfect getaway for Middle East leisure travellers looking for luxury accommodation as QatarÕs landscape offers more for tourists every year,Ó he added.

SALALAH MARRIOTT CELEBRATES KHAREEF SUMMER SEASON
The SultanateÕs only Marriott Resort, Salalah Marriott Resort in Mirbat, Oman, is launching its Khareef offer at Arabian Travel Market in anticipation of a busy monsoon season. ÓThe Khareef season offers an ultimate summer escape for everyone, due to the low temperatures and unique rainy weather that occurs in this Middle Eastern region. ÒThe majority of travellers during the Khareef are GCC tourists escaping the heat in their own countries. Our main source markets are locals and residents,Ò said Ahmed El-Meligui, Director of Sales and Marketing at the Salalah Marriott Resort. ÓOur presence during the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai is, therefore, crucial to the
success of the season as we are able to meet all of our end customers from these source markets, including our travel partners, in order to increase awareness for this unique season and for our unique product,Ò he added. With Ramadan falling into Khareef season this year, El-Meligui said that the peak season for the region will be even more compressed, shortened to only four, rather than the usual six, weeks. ÓThe respective authorities in Salalah have been extremely proactive and supportive regarding hoteliersÕ concerns about a shorter season. Therefore, the Khareef Festival has been moved forward from June 21 to July18 to minimise business disruption,Ò concluded El-Meligui.
