Rules for Newport’s Got Talent 2012: 1. The competition is open to Newport residents of all ages. 2. Entries from those aged 16 and under need the support of a parent or guardian, and this will be sought prior to any entry being accepted. If your entry is for a youth, please ensure contact details are included. 3. Acts of all types are eligible to enter, so long as their performance is family-friendly; no nudity, sexual connotations, connotations of drug taking or other abuse, no swearing. Acts must also be safe and without risk to performers, spectators or infrastructure. 4. Only one entry per performer or group will be counted. 5. Groups of any size can enter, so long as their act can be performed safely and comfortably on a stage. 6. Entry submissions are to last no longer than three minutes per act. 7. Entrants must have access to their own props, costumes and any other articles needed for their performance. 8. Entries where lip-syncing is involved will not be counted. 9. If you are selected as a finalist, you will be required to attend a rehearsal of your performance before the date of the final. This date will be confirmed nearer the time. If your performance is deemed unsuitable, or if it violates any of the rules, we reserve the right to cancel your place in the final. 10. The link to initial entries should be sent to
voice@wearevoice.co.uk by 9am on June 15, 2012. We can accept DVD and CD entries also. Please see the ‘entry details’ panel for the information on this. 11. The finalists will be selected on June 15 by representatives of Voice magazine and Newport City Council. 12. The finalists with the largest number of votes will then reach the final, which will take place at Parklife at Tredegar Park, Newport on July
15.Aseparate set of rules for this will be published and made available to the final ten acts at the time. The judges present on the day will select the winner based upon the performances given via a scorecard which will take different elements of the performance into account. NB: If you are selected as a finalist, we may require you to be available for press opportunities and other promotional acts. 13. The judges’ decisions are final and feedback cannot be provided.

You have until June 15 to enter and you can send us your entries either via e-mail or on CD or DVD to the address below. On June 15 a panel of judges will select a final ten who will be invited to perform at Parklife on July 15. A panel of judges will then select the overall winner of Newport’s Got Talent 2012.
