THE CHANCES ARE THAT YOU COULD!

Foster carers are ordinary people who do an extraordinary job – with the support of Social Services, of course. They make a difference in the lives of children in need – we see the evidence daily.

urrently we need: • Carers to commit to working with teenagers • Short break carers for children with disabilities • Carers to provide supported lodgings for teenagers who are homeless or about to leave care.

we welcome and value every fostering enquiry and we will value yours. training will be provided and generous financial allowances are available.

ne area of foster care which is lesser known is shortbreak caring for children with disabilities. shortbreak carers give sterling, dedicated service to families and children, and some of the links established last for years.

there is no such thing as a typical short break carer. they come from all sorts of backgrounds and bring a variety of skills. some can give more time than others and link with several families, while others link with just one.

all the efforts of those who provide short breaks for torfaen young people are greatly appreciated.

however, the increase in the number of families who need short breaks has put pressure on the service, so we are currently seeking to recruit more who feel that this special kind of fostering is for them.

please speak to us if you feel you could commit a little time to helping us make a big difference in the life of a disabled child.
