budget restrictions and sadly trips to activity and residential cen- tres are some of the first luxuries that are cut from school budgets. Even more so, the majority of outdoor activity centres are run by


local authorities who are similarly facing huge cuts to their bud- gets. Previously, centres run by councils were subsidised in order to keep their visiting costs down, with children from disadvantaged backgrounds often able to attend for free. Yet with local authorities facing drastic budget restrictions, activity centres are either facing closure or huge fee increases.
