ehd Book Club How it works!

Hello all. Very excited to have our very own book club! The idea is to nominate 3 books each month for our readers to pick a favourite to read and give feedback. The book with the best feedback gets reviewed the following month with a few comments from some of the readers. It’s only a start so changes to come ahead but hopefully this is a wonderful addition to the ehd and something to keep us all occupied during the less active parts of the day. Enjoy!

Book of the Month

As this is the first month we are running the book club, there will be no review but the intention is for me to review one of the books below incorporating some of your feedback next month. Get reading and get in touch. The email to send your comments to is demifalode@yahoo.co.uk

This month’s nominations

Call the midwife by Jennifer Worth A True Story Of The East End In The 1950s A true and moving story of 1950s births and hospital conditions. Must be read to be believed. It’s at times sad, at times funny. A sobering reminder of how far we have come and the privileges we at times take for granted.

Hit & Run by Doug Johnstone Driving home from a party with his girlfriend and brother, all of them drunk and high on stolen pills, Billy Blackmore accidentally hits someone in the night. In a panic, they all decide to drive off. But the next day Billy wakes to find he has to cover the story for the local paper. It turns out the dead man was Edinburgh’s biggest crime lord and, as Billy struggles with what he’s done, he is sucked into a nightmare of guilt, retribution and violence. From the author of the acclaimed Smokeheads, Hit & Run is another pitch-black psychological thriller.

Fifty Shades Darker by E.L. James Daunted by the dark secrets of the tormented young entrepreneur Christian Grey, Ana Steele has broken off their relationship to start a new career with a US publishing house. But desire for Grey still dominates her every waking thought, and when he proposes a new arrangement, she cannot resist. But while Grey wrestles with his inner demons, Ana must make the most important decision of her life. And it’s a decision she can only make on her own...
