Family Printmaking Workshops June 9 through July 21


The Mennello Museum of American Art www.mennellomuseum.com It’s all about the fine art of printmaking at the Mennello, where one of the museum’s galleries will be turned into a working print studio for summer camps and two family classes. These classes are $5 per child, with no cost for an accompanying adult (summer camp information is available on their website). Remember Dad


June 9, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Learn printmaking techniques, and use them to craft a Father’s Day surprise — special cards for dads, grandfathers, uncles or other favorite people. Summertime


July 21, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Capture the laid-back spirit of the season with a summer- inspired work of art, and create a print that will remind you of your favorite summertime activities!


Creative Connections Ongoing


Orlando Museum of Art www.omart.org OMA’s newest art initiative connects developmentally disabled students to art and the world around them. Designed for third- through eighth-graders, Creative Connections will take place three dates over the summer: June 3, July 1 and August 15. All classes start at 11:30 a.m. (Art Adventures, an interactive art class for the preschool set, also will continue over the summer, meeting June 15, July 13 and August 10. Preregistration is required for all events.)

Target Family Festival July 20 through 29 Orlando Repertory Theatre www.orlandorep.com While The Rep’s 2012-13 season doesn’t kick off until fall, there will still be plenty of shows to see as the theater plays host to the Sixth Annual Target Family Theatre Festival. Held in Loch Haven Park, this event features free family-oriented music and theater performances by both nationally known entertainers and Central Florida’s most talented young actors. Don't miss the Party in the Park the last two days of the Festival.

Rumpelstiltskin May 30 through July 29 Pinocchio's Marionette Theater www.pinocchios.net You remember the story, right? Rumpelstiltskin, a little gnome with a big name, helps a baker's daughter weave straw into gold so she can become a princess. During the show's run, Pinocchio's will offer a summer birthday discount in its colorful party rooms. Showtimes: Wednesdays through Fridays at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.; and Saturdays and Sundays at 12:30, 2:45 and 5 p.m.

June 21 through 24 Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center www.wdpac.com What could be more magical than taking your child to a live production of the Disney classic Aladdin? How about an enchanting performance presented for kids — by kids! Join the young actors of the Seminole County Repertory Company’s juniors program as they take your family on an adventure to Agrabah and bring Aladdin, Jasmine and the Genie to life. Showtimes: June 21, 22 and 23 at 7:30 p.m.; and June 24 at 2 p.m.

June 21 through July 29 Orlando Shakespeare Theater www.orlandoshakes.org Featuring all of your child’s favorite characters, this production also will enlist the young audience members to play a part in telling this classic story. Be sure to check the website for preshow activities, including coloring and special readings in the community. Showtimes: Tuesdays through Fridays at 10:30 a.m.; Saturdays at 2 p.m.; and Sundays at 4:30 p.m. All performances will feature an autograph session immediately following the show.
