Cleveland Karate Club win 13 Medals at WIKF British National Championships


Cleveland Karate Club based in Saltburn had another exceptional performance at the WIKF British National Championships this year. The annual competition, held in Leicester on 10th


March, saw more than a hundred karate students compete in Kumite (fighting) and Kata (sequence of movements) events.


WIKF clubs from all over the country including


students from the England Squad which is based in London, attended the national competition. Cleveland managed to scoop thirteen medals including 5 first place golds which was a fantastic achievement for the club. Chief Instructor, Sensei Jeff Probst (6th Dan) said “I am very proud, the standard was extremely high and our students have worked hard to achieve these awards.” Ten students ranging from 8 years and up travelled


to Leicester for the Championships. The medals go to Luke Wales (8) Gold Kata + Silver Kumite, Ella Snaith (9) Silver Kata + Gold Kumite, Josh Chisholm (10) Gold Kata + Gold Kumite, Karen Williams (senior) Bronze Kumite, Andy Broderick (senior) Bronze Kata, Gold Kumite and Keith Pinnigar (5th Dan) Silver Kata. Cleveland also took Bronze in the Team Kata (Luke Wales, Reece Jaramillo and Keith Pinnegar). Well done to everyone who took part including
