THE WEIRS TIMES & THE COCHECO TIMES, Thursday, April 26, 2012 To Your Health

When Dr. Jeremy Hogan meets patients who have been suffering from hip pain, they usually leave with renewed hope, thanks to Dr. Hogan’s success rate with a new procedure in hip replacement — the direct anterior approach.

LACONIA, NH – Join LRGHealthcare for their free Athletic Performance Series designed to assist the coach, athlete, or recreational athlete in developing sports-specific skills to improve overall fitness. Individuals are welcome to attend one or all of the programs.

As one of only a few surgeons in New Hampshire performing hip replacements using this advanced, mini- mally invasive technique, the Lakes and Three Rivers regions are fortunate that Dr. Hogan is based at Orthopedic Professional Association (OPA), a department of Lakes Region General Hospital.

“Hip replacement is one of the most effective surgeries in the history of medicine,” says Dr. Hogan. “The direct anterior approach makes it even better. I have seen patients recover faster and with less pain than would be expected with other hip replacement techniques.”

Advancements in the design of surgical instru- ments coupled with the specialized expertise and training of surgeons like Dr. Hogan, have resulted in several advantages over traditional approaches to hip replacement. The new, mini- mally invasive anterior approach is a great option for patients with arthritis, and it requires a much smaller incision then traditional hip replacement. “My patients are able to move sooner without worrying about restrictions,” said Hogan.

The next program in the series is Improving Agility/Speed/ Quickness. It will take place on Thursday, April 26 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hillside Medical Park in Gilford.
