The Yorkshire Wartime Experience Event 22-24 June


The biggest gathering of World War 2 military vehicles in the North of England.


Plus the biggest ever staged World War 2 re-enactment of the Normandy battle. Several real World War 2 tanks and armoured vehicles in action (firing). Four live firing 25 pounder field guns. Static military vehicles from a bicycle to a main battle tank.


Walk amongst 'British Tommies' of the First world war, 'GI Joes' from the beaches of Normandy, the Women's Land army of the second world war right up to recent conflicts. There will also be a unique opportunity to experience in sitting in modern static aircraft cockpits, day time entertainment including 40s singers, fun fair trade and military stalls, licensed bar and food, an action packed day out for all the family. Ripponden May Day Gala 7th May. The 18th Gala! The procession leaves The Silk Mill, Oldham Road at 2.15pm and then at Millfold there will be a whole range of things going on for both children & adults - bbq, inflatable slides, marching band plus Longswords, Gardening club, Ripponden in Bloom etc. A great family day out!

The Calderdale Big Band MD Peter Lynch The band, formerly known as The Calder Valley Youth Dance Orchestra (CYDO), is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a band dinner on Sat 19th May followed by the annual Swing Session at The Halifax Playhouse on Sun 20th May at 7pm.


Tickets for the Playhouse £6 with enquiries on Hx 823656 & 250099. Appearing with the band as a special guest is AJ Brown (vocals and saxophone), who, from age 11 was one of the original members and is now carving out a solo Jazz career.


Although the original band was a pure youth band, we are now a blend of youth and adult musicians, and rehearsals take place at the Ripponden Conservative Club on Thursday evenings from 7.15pm.
