Other equipment used includes: radar units, breath-testing instruments and crime suspect composite drawing kits.

In addition, the department is a member of the Northern Illinois Police Crime Laboratory, the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System, the Lake County Metropolitan Enforcement Group (a drug enforcement group composed of officers from state, county and several municipal departments), the Lake County Major Crime Task Force (an investigative task force providing experienced criminalists and evidence technicians), and the Lake County Gang Task Force (a multi-jurisdictional response team consisting of trained gang specialists).
