goal. I think it was one of my best goals this season.
My News I was sitting behind your
dad for that particular game and he looked like he celebrated far more than anyone else did. SM He comes to every game so he’s always happy when I score.
My News How pleased are you with
the number of appearances you’ve had since you made your debut? SM I think I’ve played every game
I could possibly play except when I was injured for the Southampton and Crystal Palace games. I’m really happy that I’ve played most of the games. My News You’ve recently signed
a new contract with Watford. Are you setting your sights firmly on achieving great things with Watford now? SM I’ve signed my contract for three years so I want to achieve as much as I can in those three years. I want to help the team do as good as we can in the league and get far. My News You had Manchester City
Sean’s first goal for Watford came against Leicester
O U My News Who’s your
favourite player? Who did you build your game on? Who was your hero? SM When I was little, I was a Chelsea
fan so I used to love watching Lampard play. The way he plays, the goals he scores and the amount of goals he scores from midfield are brilliant. My News What’s the best bit of advice you’ve received for your career so far?
SM The youth team coaches just say
work as hard as you can in training and you’ll get your opportunity. I’ve been hearing that for the last two or three years. When I was in the Under 16s and 18s they said you’ve got a good chance of playing for the first team but you just need to keep working hard, training as hard as you can then your chance will come. I think it has. That’s good advice and it’s helped me out a lot.
Sean’s spectacular free kick goal against Brighton
My News You’ve got your own song on the terraces now? SM Yeah I’ve heard them sing it. It’s
quite a good song and quite catchy. I’m happy to get a song.
Sean Murray was speaking to Nik Allen
courting a year or two ago. How easy was it to turn down the big club to stay with your local team? SM I didn’t have to have a second
thought about that. I’d have been there playing reserve team football and not being noticed. Playing with the first team with Watford, you’re part of something that’s really good. I’m playing games and scoring goals and I wouldn’t have done that had I moved on.
