Te 31-year-old investment banker was spotted on Watling Street at around 3pm in a full-body blue and yellow suit before he headed off on a training run around Radlett. He said he had a great response from the village.

Nick decided to run in costume because he has taken part in the marathon three times before and

wanted to spice things up this year. Te proceeds raised from his run around Radlett and his marathon attempt will go to Cancer Research.

He wanted the marathon to be a challenge and was not concerned about how much longer it would take for him to complete in the hot and heavy costume. He described the experience as “a whole lot easier than that facing anyone diagnosed with cancer”.

Although Nick decided to run in a silly costume, he had

a very serious reason for taking part and raising money for research into cancer.

He added: “In recent years a number of my friends have lost their parents to cancer, and in 2004 my older brother's girlfriend succumbed to leukaemia. All forms of cancer can be devastating.”

He was due to run the marathon as My Radlett & Shenley News went to print.
