With the countdown now on for this year’s Watford Peace Hospice Starlight Walk, one local walker is leaving nothing to chance. Dawn Ayres, director at Bushey Hall


Garage, is determined to do all she can to ensure the event on Saturday, June 23, reaches its £1 million accumulative fundraising total. Last year, Dawn walked the half marathon


event with a team of ladies raising money for the hospice. Sadly, the total fell short. This year organisers hope to raise £200,000. Dawn is currently training for her sixth


Starlight Walk. She already has a team of ten friends, aptly called Team 2012, taking part. One walker is coming up from Herefordshire to support the event. The team’s JustGiving page is already up


and running for donations at www.justgiving. com/teams/TEAM2012. Dawn’s staff also plan to do their bit and


will help marshal. Her husband and fellow director, Roger, has also been one of the last marshals home, walking behind the column. He will be out again in 2012. Daughter Jenny, in the company’s


accounts, has just signed up for her first Starlight with Team 2012 and Dawn’s business networking group, BNI Junction, has members on the Starlight committee. Women from the group will walk and


other members will assist with marshalling or behind the scenes. Dawn said: “I have walked every Starlight


now. With more than 1,000 women walking each year – one year nearly 2,000 – the support is there.
