Safety fears over petrol station plan

eople in and around Borehamwood are being invited to comment on plans for a
new petrol station at Stirling Way. Local people and members of Borehamwood
and Elstree Town Council have expressed concerns at the application, submitted by Morrisons, to build the facility next to its superstore on Stirling Way. Some say it could have a negative impact on the Stirling Corner junction. Hertsmere Borough Council, due to consider
the application at committee level in the future, wants to hear what members of the public think about the scheme. Clive Butchins, chairman of Elstree and
Borehamwood Town Council‘s transport and road safety forum, has called for a meeting between all parties. He said: ―People seem to be concerned that a
petrol station in that location, with the configuration of road, could be the cause of more problems at the roundabout.‖
Stirling Way. Scott Laban, area team leader for the
planning department at Hertsmere Borough Council, said the comments of local people will be extremely important in helping to determine the application. He said: ―We understand there are concerns
from local people about the potential traffic impact of the proposal.‖ Comments can be sent to Sharon Richards at
