hree Borehamwood and Elstree residents have been recognised by the Mayor for their
work within the community. John Brown and Richard Jarvis from
Borehamwood and Susan Moser from Elstree won Civic Awards at an Elstree Studios ceremony last month. John Brown is chairman of the Borehamwood
branch of the Royal British Legion. He has received a Gold Badge and the North West County Certificate and organised Armistice parades, commemorative events and talks to youth groups. He is also vice president of the 7th Borehamwood Scout Group. Richard Jarvis has been involved with
Neighbourhood Watch for more than five years and is vice chairman of Borough Watch. He also visits burglary and anti-social behaviour victims to offer support and advice. He is involved with Hertsmere Community Safety Partnership, stewards for Elstree and Borehamwood Town Council and raises money for Macmillan Cancer
Support and North London Hospice. Susan Moser is chair of the Borehamwood
branch of Mencap. She has produced and directed a number of
shows at the Ark theatre and raised a substantial amount for the charity. Her recent shows included members from Mencap who have learning disabilities. Susan also raises money for Noah‘s Ark Play
Scheme, The Jubilee Club and Hertsmere Learning Disability Forum. The Mayor, councillor Peter Knell, presented
the winners with framed certificates. Mayor Knell said: ―Lots of people in Hertsmere
give up their time to help others and the evening was about recognising just some of these special people. ―It was a real honour to meet the winners and
present them with their awards. ― I would like to congratulate and thank all the
winners again for their commitment, they should feel very proud.‖
