Mary Vanosdell Mary Vanosdell, 71, of Glendale and formerly of Arlington died April 5, 2012, in Avondale. Mrs. Vanosdell was born Jan. 19, 1941, in Millersville,
Texas, to Ignacio and Angelita Luera. She moved to Arizona in 1965. She was retired but volunteered
at Tolleson First Assembly of God Food Bank and Sword of the Spirit Food Bank. She was also a member of the Tolleson First Assembly of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, Weaver. She is survived by three daughters, Elvira Karjala of Buckeye, Susie Moore of Buckeye and Wanda of Glendale; one son, Thomas of Arlington; one brother, Angel Luera of Avondale; six sisters, Catarina Alvarado of Tulare, Calif., Juanita Silva of Avondale, Irene Gomez of Avondale, Petra Baltazar of Lamesa, Texas, Carmen Gutierrez of Phoenix and Virginia Ortega of Glendale; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held April 9 at Buckeye First Assembly Of God. The Rev. Charles W. Clark officiated. Funeral arrangements were made by Ganley’s Buckeye Funeral Home.

Cuddles Pet of the Week
You wanted pets, we give you pets. With this weekly feature readers can view profiles of adoptable cats and dogs of various shapes and sizes from Glendale’s Sun Valley Animal Shelter.
Most of the animals that will have their mugs shown in this space will be canines and felines that are a little harder to place because of size, age or a special need, but are wonderful pets nonetheless. Each animal has its own character so if you’re smitten by an animal in this column, head down to the shelter and see for yourself. There’s no guarantee it will still be
there, but if it’s not, maybe the shelter has another animal that fits your own needs, your own personality. Here’s this week’s Pet of the Week:

OTHER: Cuddles lives up to his name. When it was his turn for glamour shots — or its pet equivalent — he barely moved from his slumber. Only when someone moved in close did he ever really respond, and even then just to roll on his back and expose his belly for the inevitable scratching and petting that always comes when a cat looks as content as this one. Cuddling, it seems, is all he wants to do. The shelter did offer some advice, though: Cuddles can be picky. Some days he’s all touchy feely and others days he’s in his own solitary world. This shouldn’t worry any potential owners, but maybe it will clue them in on Cuddles’ core personality as a social loner. But aren’t most cats?
