VV: What do your sons and the rest of your family think about you signing up for a reality show? MZ: Well, my sons and I had very long conversations about me accepting the show and we decided as a family that we would give it a season. I was honestly very apprehensive and did worry about my sons, but after long talks with my sisters and parents, I decided that I’d take the journey and see what it brought.

VV: How did you find the process of filming a reality show? Was it what you expected? MZ: I’ve

ance of equality for everyone and how love is what everyone needs. Regarding PETA, I believe in the human treatment of ani- mals and am against the killing of animals strictly for their fur.

VV: On the show, we’re watching you re-launch your singing career. What’s that experience been like? MZ: I decided since music was such a huge part of my career and life that I would utilize my instrument in order

done quite a bit of TV work in my career: music videos, hosting. But I was never prepared for the kind of hours that went into filming this show. It was very emotional at times, and demanding. VV: You do a lot of non-profit work with NOH8, PETA, Tuberous Sclerosis Canada and Epilepsy and Seizure Education in British Columbia, among others. What’s driven you to become so involved in these organizations? MZ: I am so glad you asked this ques- tion. By nature, I am a giver and I have a strong sense of compassion for others—I lay awake at night sometimes thinking of things I can do to help people less fortunate. I have always been very involved in charity since I was a young girl. My parents instilled in all of us the importance of paying it forward and giving back to so- ciety. I have passed this important message on to my children as well. Tere has never been a time in my life when I have not been actively involved in charity work… With regard to NOH8 and PETA, both of these organizations I feel very strongly about supporting. NOH8 is one of the most important messages in our world that we need to spread and it is important for parents to teach their children the import-

ning around after three teenage boys will keep anybody fit—boys are pretty active. Honestly, I would love to say it’s because I am a workout fanatic, but I took after my mother so I should thank genetics. I do look after myself though, and eat healthy, but I don’t stick to any kind of strict diet other than not eating red meat. I am an avid yogi but I also enjoy power walks around the seawall when weather permits.

VV: You’ve been quoted as saying you find the dating scene in Vancouver hard. In what way? MZ: I actually never said that! I really haven’t dated much at all in the past year since my last relationship, but am looking forward to meeting a great guy soon…hopefully! VV: What do you look for in a man?

to raise awareness for my son’s illness and to raise money for research [one of Zilba’s sons suffers from a disorder called Tuberous Sclerosis and Zilba also sits on the national board of directors for Tuberous Sclerosis Canada]. I am very passionate about music and obviously it feels amazing to get back into the studio and work again.

VV: For a mother of three, you are in great shape. How do you keep fit? MZ: Ha! So sweet of you to say. Run-

MZ: First and foremost a sense of humour—I really don’t take myself too seriously and admire that quality in a man. I want a family guy as well, since I have three boys and want someone who can love my children. Hmmn…faith- ful is a must as well—I’m a one-man woman!
