Free landscape, irrigation classes The city’s spring lineup of popular

landscaping and irrigation workshops includes two new classes to help residents save money and reduce water use just in time for rising temperatures, which can mean greater consumption and waste. Various workshops will be held from

6 to 8:45 p.m. each Thursday beginning April 12 at Chandler City Hall, 175 N. Arizona Ave. Take advantage of these class dates

and topics: ”Yard Watering” on April 26 takes the

mystery out of irrigation so residents know how long and how much to water. It also teaches how to program an irrigation timer using actual controllers. “’Smart’ Irrigation Controllers” on

May 3 introduces a new generation of products called ‘Smart’ controllers that automatically adjust irrigation schedules based on actual site and weather conditions. These controllers can prevent irrigation when it rains, apply more water to landscape during unexpected hot and dry spells, and automatically adjust watering to reduce runoff from slopes. This new technology can help save up to 30 percent on landscape watering. Rebates of up to $250 are available for ‘Smart’ controllers. All workshops are free to Chandler utility customers, but participants must register. Visit the Water Conservation Office website at water for details and to register, or call 480-782-3580.
