Drop-in Meditation Class Kingdon House, North Street, Tavistock 7.30 - 8.45pm


The Ashoka Buddhist Centre of Plymouth, are holding their meditation classes in Tavistock starting on Monday 16th April and continuing each Monday until 14th May and from 11th June until 2nd July.


Each class begins with a guided meditation to relax and still the mind. This is followed by a short talk - each week looking at how some aspect of Buddhist wisdom can be used to find peace of mind and a meaningful life. There is usually a tea break with discussion, an opportunity for any questions, and the class finishes with a guided meditation on the week’s topic.


The cost is £5 per class or 6 classes for £25. These are drop-in classes, no need to book, which are suitable for everyone, from any background. Whether you’re a complete beginner to meditation, or if you’ve been practising it for

World Peace Café


If you are visiting Plymouth and would like to enjoy good food and good coffee in an oasis of peace, the World Peace Café is open from 11am - 5pm (last orders 4.30pm) at the Ashoka Kadampa Buddhist Centre, 33 Sutherland Road, Plymouth.


The café serves delicious vegetarian/vegan paninis, homemade soups, freshly baked cakes and fair trade origin coffee. The café is the the only vegetarian/vegan cafe in Plymouth and is run by volunteers with all profits made going towards building temples dedicated to world peace. There is free WiFi and a lovely garden to chill out in during your lunch break and soak up the atmosphere.


You can also attend one of the lunchtime meditation sessions from 12.15 to 12.45 Tuesday, Thursday and 12.15pm - 1pm on Wednesday and even order your lunch before the meditation. We’ll have it ready for you when the class is finished. Yummy food and a peaceful mind, what could be nicer?


Volunteers


We welcome any spare time you have to offer. There are many different jobs to choose from and they range from working in the kitchen as chef’s assistant, waiting on tables and preparing the beverages to some general cleaning. No special skills are required and all necessary training will be provided.
