Thank you for your trust in me to lead our club for the next year. It has been rewarding and challenging in these economic times. I, myself, work in wholesale sales in the furniture industry. If no one is buying furniture, I do not have an income. I have seen things turn around a bit these last few months, which gives me hope our economy is improving. This issue of the Patter, went way past the deadline to assure its publication. We did use funds from “Friends of the Patter” to allow us to publish it. Waiting so long for ads to come in, puts an enormous strain on our editor and publisher to get it out on time. Thank you to those who contributed with ads this issue. To those who wanted to, please get your ads in on time. The next deadline is April 25th.
There has been a little confusion on the qualifications of one of our latest awards we present at our Banquet, The Triple Crown. The Board will be rewording the award to make it more clear to all who attain it. Basically, you need to earn three titles on your dog in three separate venues of competition. The last title earned, must be in the year preceding when the award is given. Once the Triple Crown is awarded, the same dog can earn subsequent Triple Crowns, provided the titles earned for it are 3 different titles than used for the last award. For example; Agility, Championships, Obedience, Rally, Tracking, CGC would be the different venues. First Triple Crown the dog had CH, BN and CGC. The next award would be a GRCH, CD and RN. No two titles can be used for more than one Triple Crown award.
The National Specialty is right around the corner and I know the folks in Phoenix will put on a grand event. I hope to see you all there. I hope you all have made reservations at the host hotel. The Board decides on venues with the membership and exhibitors in mind, to make it convenient and affordable to all. Please support your club wherever the national is held. I look forward to visiting with old friends and making new ones.
