COMPETITIONS AND TENDERS EFFEKT’S CANCER CENTRE
EFFEKT’s Livsrumhas been named as thewinning design in the competition for a newcancer counseling centre at Næstved hospital in Denmark in collaborationwith Hoffmann and Lyngkilde. The centre is designed as a cluster of seven small houses around two green outdoor spaces. Each house has its own specific function and together they forma coherent sequence of different spaces and functions such as a library, kitchen, conversation rooms, lounge, shops, gym, andwellness facilities. The house offers awide range of different rooms for informal advice, therapy and interactionwith a focus on the users' comfort andwellbeing.

that the buildingwill have its own unique architectural character that clearly distinguishes it fromthe surrounding hospital buildings.With the location of the cancer counseling centre close to the hospital's cancerward, it is set for a closer collaboration between hospital staff and the Danish Cancer Society. Construction is scheduled to begin in August 2012. Excerpts fromthe jury’s report read: "It's a
compelling simple and logical plan compositionwith fine spatial experiences in themovement around the
inner courtyards and the centre’s in-house facilities.”

reSITE Festival,ARCHIP (Architectural Institute in Prague) and Skanska are calling for ideas to connect the the RiverVltava, in Prague, Czech Republicwith the historical capital city. The scope of the
competition is theVltava riverbank and its immediate context fromLibenskyMost (Bridge) to the north to Zeleznicnimost (Railway Bridge) to the south. This section of the river has various characters and qualities on both riverbanks,which gives competitors a chance to select andwork on awide scope of places and areas. The proposals should use existing potential of theVltava river, define its connectionwith the city – and lead to the creation of attractive public spaces.

MUSEUM OF ARCHITECTURE COMPETITION
www.archtriumph.com The aim of this two-stage international ideas competition, organised by Triumph of Architecture + Design, is to design a newMuseum Of Architecture in London, on the site of the Iconic Old London Battersea Power Station, on the bank of the River Thames. This iconic structure and prime site
has lain derelict for number of years with plan after plan for re-developments. It is a protected building, which means that the four chimneys would have to be incorporated into any design. ArchTriumph calls on architects to
rise to the challenge provided by such an opportunity to be innovative and responsive to such a site and location
with bold ideas for thisMuseum. Interest should be registered from the 19th Jun 2012 and the deadline for stage 1 submissions is 4th September 2012.

www.ideasonapostcard.org.uk To celebrate the publication of Design Like You Give a Damn 2, by Architecture for Humanity founder Cameron Sinclair; architects, designers, artists, students and other creative individuals are invited to come up with a proposal for a small scale project, product or build that embodies the spirit of humanitarian design. Architecture for Humanity London and Studio 54
Architecture are co-hosting a weeklong event on the theme of designing ‘like you give a damn’ and they’re calling for ideas to exhibit during the event that will in some way improve the London experience. It could be an idea for a public space installation, a community enterprise, an eco building, an ingenious object, or anything that demonstrates how design can be used to make Londoner’s lives better and happier. So ideas on a postcard! The proposal can be text, a
sketch or other visual representation. Be bold. Be adventurous. Think big, or small. All entries will be exhibited. Visitors will be able to
vote on their favourite and Architecture for Humanity London, along with Studio 54 Architecture, will choose a few ideas to take to the next step. The deadline for submissions is 15th April 2012.

stakirjasto.fi The City of Helsinki is holding an open two-stage competition for the design of a Central Library. The competition looks for a contemporary design. The aimis to create a vibrant and functionally versatilemeeting place, aswell as an energy- efficient and architecturally significant building. The Central Library will
be located in the very centre of Helsinki, the Toolonlahti – or Toolo Bay - area. It will be part of a cohesive totality of public buildings together with the Finnish Parliament building, HelsinkiMusic Centre, Finlandia Hall, Sanoma House and Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art. The competition is a part
of theWorld Design Capital Helsinki 2012 programme. The goal is for the building to be completed in 2017, and it will be a projectmarking the centenary of Finland’s independence.
The deadline for initial submissions is the 16th ofApril 2012.
