Arup lands Euston revamp
Arup has been appointed by HS2 Ltd to provide preliminary designs for the HS2 terminus at Euston Station. The designwill include a newterminus for HS2 and existing railway services, a newLondon underground ticket office, office and retail space, public spaces and community facilitieswith the aimof improving access, space and overall experience for all rail users and the local community. Arup’s preliminary designswill include architectural design by Grimshaw and logistical infrastructure
development by Costain. Chief Executive ofHS2 Ltd,
AlisonMunro says: “Our long term vision for Euston Station is to provide the principal rail gateway for high speed rail services from London to theWestMidlands, and onto the north-west and north-east of England and Scotland. Following a comprehensive selection process,we’ve awarded this contract toArup, supported byGrimshawandCostain, for their innovative approaches towards engineering, architectural design and construction logistics.”
Townshend secures Shell contract Robert Townshend, Principal of
CanaryWharfGroup plc and Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company have appointed Townshend Landscape Architects to design the public realmand open spaces of the Shell Centre redevelopment on London’s South Bank. Townshend Landscape
the rights to it as itwill go with the land andwhoever buys the site. But, Sir Terry, who is Design Advisor to theMayor of London, Former Commissioner of English Heritage and Former Chair of their London Advisory Committee, believes that this is the onlyway to unblock this important site whilst preserving the cherished parts of the power station.
Architectswillworkwith recently appointedmasterplanner Squire and Partners on the planning application. Theywill design and detail the landscaping of spaces to provide high quality public realmwithin the site. All design proposals are subject to an extensive public consultation process, which started earlier this year.

The scheme affords a wonderful opportunity to create a key piece of unique sustainable public realmwhich can be interwoven into the historic setting of the ShellCentre.” The ShellCentre development
